Food and hygiene
Can a wooden pallet enter a BRCGS open-food area?
BRCGS official guidance excludes wood from open product areas unless essential and justifiable. It describes a limited single-use-wood exception for specified plastic-lined packing-line containers. Do not extend that exception to storing open food or work in progress. Confirm the current standard and position statements with the site technical team.
What to check next
- Ask the technical manager for written zone acceptance.
- Do not treat a certification rule as a universal legal ban.
