Only accept or sell pallets when the person offering them has the right to transfer them. An empty pallet outside a business is not an invitation to take it. Condition, ownership, collection arrangements and the receiving operation matter.
Check ownership first
Ask the business for permission and check for pool ownership marks. CHEP states that its blue pallets remain its property and must not be sold. Contact the relevant pool operator about returns rather than treating a branded pooled pallet as scrap or free stock.
Is a free pallet suitable for shipping?
A free pallet with unknown construction, contamination or damage may be unsuitable for your shipment. Identify the specification and inspect it before use. If you cannot establish the required performance, discuss a known specification with a supplier instead.
Offering used pallets for purchase
Give a prospective buyer the quantity, footprint, condition, photographs and collection location. Acceptance and value depend on that buyer’s requirements; no price or collection is guaranteed here. Keep pooled pallets separate. For a supply requirement, compare the used wooden range and confirm the actual order specification.
