Radioactive materials
What if a radioactive package or its pallet is damaged in transit?
Follow the established emergency arrangements. ONR advises restricting access to damaged or suspected-leaking packages until competent assessment with appropriate monitoring equipment. Do not simply repalletise and resume transport; the specialist assessment must determine what is safe and permitted.
What to check next
- Contact the designated radiation and transport specialists.
- Follow the emergency plan rather than ordinary returns handling.
