Can chemically contaminated pallets go into ordinary wood recycling?
Do not classify them from appearance or the original pallet material alone. Waste classification must reflect contaminants and hazardous properties. Give the receiving facility an accurate description and use a route authorised for that waste; ordinary clean-wood acceptance is not evidence of acceptance for contaminated pallets.
What to check next
- Identify the substance and contamination history.
- Obtain competent waste classification and receiving-site acceptance.
