Why do glass and window manufacturers use stillages instead of flat pallets?
Glass needs controlled support, separation and restraint as well as weight capacity. Pilkington's instructions for its glass describe rated racks, cushioned contact surfaces and support for individual panes. Follow the actual glass manufacturer's instructions; a flat pallet rating does not show that fragile sheets or sealed unit edges are protected.
